SOLUTIONS PAGE
INTRODUCTION
Complaints have been heard here and there on
the net concerning our beloved Suzuki Intruder 1500 LC.
Understandably some people are bitter about some things, however,
we must consider that this bike is only around 2 years old!!! It
didn't even exist in 1997! (If my info is correct). Although a
comparison to a beta testing is inevitable, some feel that Suzuki
should have ironed out some of the problems at the factory level.
Surely they tested the bike until they were blue in the face,
before releasing it on the market (?).
On this page you will find solutions to some of
the "problems" people have been reporting. Obviously
every problem has a solution. It's just a question of the rider's
willingness to undertake the necessary changes / adjustments.
Some are covered under warranty, and we suggest that you consult
your dealer before doing ANYTHING... Please note: Some of the solutions presented cannot
be undone once you make the changes.
Note:
The solutions presented here should only be regarded as
suggestions and aim to inform the rider of what is possible.

- Ok...
you get the point -
THE FIXES:
- Fuel tank too small? - This is not really a "solution" to
enlargen the fuel tank, but it will help out those who
find they can't go all the way on one tank - No sense
wasting a whole page for this tip: Pop a plastic fuel
container into the left saddlebag (which is NOT above
the exhaust pipes). - As usual, please don't do this if
it violates any laws in your area... This is why I wanted
the bigger bags! More fuel space
- You have to stop somewhere to
strech your legs anyway, right? So why not use the time
to refuel too! - (I go about 200 kms before the fuel
light starts blinking). (Note: I chatted with a mechanic friend of
mine one time about using some of the space in the fake
"tank" area to store gas, he advised against it,
as it can get pretty hot in there. The triangle was out,
too. That gets even hotter! Well, I did ask! - Another
thing that came to mind was a round bag, on the optional
rack, at the back, with fuel leads down into the fuel
tank itself. He said this could be
done... I decided just to use the container in the
saddlebag for now, though.)
WARNING SECTION
Sometimes we all
need reminding about certain things. So, here you go:
- Leaving the bike? ALWAYS leave your bike in GEAR if you leave it
somewhere. This is so it doesn't roll off the stand if
someone accidentally nudges it, or it's on even the
gentlest of slopes!
- Idle:
If you find the engine running TOO FAST
when in idle, remember the little knob under the left
side of the fake tank (engine cover), you can even adjust
it while sitting on the bike at traffic lights!
- Soft Leather Saddlebags: If you get yourself soft saddlebags, make sure
you get yourself the brackets to keep them away from the
following:
1. The rear wheel (important if they have long tassles (fringe)).
2. The rear fender!
- (I didn't think I needed the
bracket and now the bags have rubbed their way
through the paint into the metal! - I got the
bracket now, but, alas, too late! Now I need to
prime, then spray the fender wounds, if I don't
want it to start rusting prematurely. A shame on
a new bike!)
Got any hot tips for us
LC owners?
- I'll also try to transfer other important
tips from the NEWS page. So please post
